At ICU Safety Aware, our mission is to build awareness about the importance of safety on and around the water and roads.
Our twofold mission, includes an awareness for being visible to others while you participate in the activities on the water and roads.
Our second mission focusses on raising awareness about the use of AED when providing CPR.

ICU, Safety Aware wants you to be highly visible while you participate in the activities you enjoy.
Across Canada deaths and injuries attributed to poor visibility as pedestrians, cyclists and on personal watercraft are on the rise.
ICU, Safety Aware, wants you to take action to ensure you are SEEN with our vibrant lightweight colored hats and reflective stickers for clothing, boats; kayaks, paddleboards, floatation devices, paddles, water-skis and helmets and backpacks to enhance your visibility so you can be seen on the waterways and roads.

Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) hands-on practice.
Many people see an AED as an easy to use device. In reality, when faced with an emergency situation people realize there is more to the tool than they thought.
With years in critical care Martha was prompted to develop AED, CPR demonstration with demo AED and manikins for CPR practice.
Our demonstrations and practice are intended to build confidence in using an AED device and CPR, which is necessary to respond effectively in emergency situations.
These demonstrations can be arranged for small groups in the Muskoka area, or at your home or cottage.
Please note: This program provides awareness for use of AED and CPR equipment. This is not a certification course for AED or CPR Training.
About
Martha Robinette a retired Registered Nurse and a long-time cottager in the Muskoka region. She has witnessed first hand the increased motorboat traffic in her area and the dangers this can pose for swimmers and operators of smaller watercraft.
She also sees the risks people take while cycling or running wearing dark coloured clothing.
Martha’s goal is to help people SEE each other when out on the water or roads.
With years in critical care Martha was prompted to develop AED, CPR demonstration with demo AED and manikins for CPR practice.
To this end, Martha has developed ‘ICU Safety Aware’ an awareness campaign to encourage and remind people to wear colourful clothing on waterways and roads.
She will demonstrate the use of an AED with CPR and the steps necessary to respond effectively in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest.

It is hard for me to put into words how important it is to make yourself visible when out on the water paddling, running along a road, or while simply crossing the street. After our family experienced such a tragedy, losing my husband (Rob) and father to our four beautiful children, my friend Martha felt compelled to help increase safety in these circumstances and created a bright coloured ball cap with the I•C•U logo on it.
On that first Monday in November of 2020, Rob and his co-workers were simply crossing a secondary highway to get onto a quieter road in the woods, when unfortunately he was hit by a drunk driver & killed instantly.
